Winner Take All

Those who own the earth we live on are gamblers who set the stakes. For them, it all boils down to money. It is a conversion factor from life into chips. The one who has the most chips when the tally closes, wins. Closure is set by mass extinction.

People are called to mine various resources. Their technique, make it fast does not fit in with supporting life. Take Mountain Top Removal, the pollution of streams, the landslides killing people.  Money makes the decision. Some dig for oil, some for precious metals, diamonds or this or that. Some raise food, monocropping using chemicals that kill insects, Monarch butterflies and and kill us as well;  They raise animals in vast quantities in factory settings. Chickens and turkeys and pigs are raised  in tiny spaces. Cattle eat out of vats of corn. Chickens are bred  to have such such huge breasts they  can barely walk. Many fall  and are trarompled. All are upset by crowding and by not the living in  an open field to eat worms and bugs and plants and run about. Most are given anti biotics to ward off pre-harvest death. The anti biotic remains in their flesh which we eventually consume. Among other things, we soon will be unreactive to anit biotics when we need them to fight infection. Peole will die from a cut on their leg.

Since they number in the thousands, their shit and piss is collected and drained into huge ponds. Hurricanes release floods of waste onto all that is in its path. Waste  is mechanically blown into the air when the pond gets too full to rain down on locals whose houses lose all value. The people’s who live in this flood of waste lead hellish lives.

What about the politicians who set the rules which protect their citizens or instead  away from consequences? Take Jerry Brown, Governor of California mourns the huge  number of fires ravaging California. Incidentaly, prisoners are paid $2/day to fire fight. They  are not given enough instruction to be fire fighters once released from prison. Is that another save money proposition for those who own the prisons?

What is the gambler’s stake in this catastrophe? Who is profiting from ignoring it. The soil is dry from drought. The trees lack water to fight flames. Planes spread chamicals to shield the  earh from the sun, a fact denied by congress. It is not jet trail when a plane goes back and forth to create parallel lines of chemicals. The chemicals including mercury rain down onto the soil and into the roots of tree which kills them. They easily burst into flames when fire comes near.

The politician, here Jerry Brown, states helpless consternation and that things can only get worse. But wait! Jerry Brown is allowing oil wells to be dug in California. The oil which is sold then heats the atmosphere which creates the flames. Is Brown too stupid to see the connection. Or is a payoff in his pocket? How many politicans are in the gamble now, hoping to miss the final extinction while becoming wealthy?

Winner Takes All

Those who own the earth we live on are gamblers who set the stakes. For them, it all boils down to money. It is a conversion factor of life into chips. The one who has the most chips when the tally closes, wins. Closure is set by mass extinction.

People are called to mine various resources. Zooming ahead to the finish line does not support life. Take Mountain Top Removal. Miners no longer work underground. Most are replaced by machines. The mountain top is shaved down to the line of coal. Soil and chemicals fall into streams. The land is polluted. There are landslides which kill people. Money makes the decision. More coal to sell the world’s great polluter.

Some dig for oil, for precious metals, diamonds for this or that. Some go into factory farming. They do monocropping which sets us up for a virus that will wipe out all we eat. They use chemicals that kill insects including the Monarch butterfly and will kill us as well; They raise animals in vast numbers. Chickens and turkeys and pigs are raised in tiny spaces. Cattle are also kept from grazing and eat out of vats of corn. Chickens are bred to have such huge breasts they can barely walk. Many fall and are trampled. All are upset by crowding and by not the living in open fields to eat worms and bugs and plants and run about. Most are given anti biotics to ward off pre-harvest death. The anti-biotic remains in their flesh which we eventually consume. Among other consequences, we soon will be unreactive to antibiotics when we need them to fight infection. People will die from a cut on their leg.

Since the factory farm animals, number in the thousands, their shit and piss, falls into pipes beneath the floor then collected and drained into huge ponds. Hurricanes pass over capturing the waste if releases onto all in its path. Some factory farms blow the waste into the air when the pond gets too full. This spray rains down on locals whose houses lose all value. The people who live in this flood of waste lead hellish lives.

What about the politicians who set the rules to protect their citizens but hide their eyes from consequences? Take Jerry Brown, Governor of California who mourns the huge number of fires ravaging California. Incidentally, prisoners are paid $2/day to fire fight. They are not given enough instruction to be professional fire fighters once released from prison. Is that another save money proposition for those who own the prisons?

What is the gambler’s stake in these catastrophes? Who profits by ignoring it. The soil is dry from drought. That is the consequence of the Greenhouse effect. There is less ice to melt and set the soil. The trees lack water to fight flames. Planes spread chemicals to limit sun, which also rains down onto the soil and into the roots of tree which kills them. Governments deny this activity or call it research. But we can see and test it. Trees poisoned by sky chemicals easily burst into flames when fire comes near.

The politician, here Jerry Brown, states helpless consternation with fires and says it can only get worse. But wait! Jerry Brown is allowing oil wells to be dug in California. The oil which is sold then heats the atmosphere which creates the flames. Is Brown too stupid to see the connection. Or is a payoff in his pocket? How many politicians are gambling now, hoping to miss the final extinction before becoming wealthy?

Fearful Thinking Will Kill Us

How did we get to the place where we stopped thinking of ourselves as part of a universal family? Your health and welfare and mine go hand in hand. Why now do we allow the one percent to totally rob us of our taxes to create new mansions they will live in whenever they get tired of the old one and to arm the warring factions so they can bring back the spoils? Those who would do this repeatedly tell us via TV and internet and papers on their payroll, that we are in danger. They beat the drum of helplessness and danger to magnify public fear until the warrior class is told to go ahead.

How did this community which supported peace and sharing change into one of it’s in it for me? How did a secure community turn into a powerless entity?

David Imhotep, Ph.D. found in his amazing research that blacks were the first ones in the Americas and came here some 40 or 50 maybe 60 thousand years ago. The number keeps getting bigger, using carbon dating and thermal luminescence of stone tools used some 50 to 100 thousand years ago. The Africans first came to Brazil. Writings found in caves using a combination of Egyptian and a kind of Hebrew script to tell their story.

They first built enormous mounds and then moved on to creating Pyramids. These enormous structures show people working together, as do their African plants dyes, styles of sculpture, etc. They smelted iron ore into iron. They were artists, engineer, astronomers, traders, healers, shaman. These mounds and pyramids are found around the globe. No one can figure out how so-called “primitives” raised enormous rocks weighing tons to great heights to create architectural symmetry. Place temple openings in terms of sun and moon and solstice and even Orion, a planet, were precise. We of the so-called more advanced culture, deny (and destroy) the products of these ancient cultures. We do it to sustain a myth of superiority.

Imhotep posited that it was the encroaching ice age that turned humans against group membership. It became I hold onto what I’ve got to survive. You are my enemy for wanting it. When the cold penetrates and there is little food, each family or individual is for itself

Focusing on self-interest is currently exacerbated by life-threatening climate changes caused by us. Money and power have caused us to let this happen and are not letting go of their hold. Money in their narrow focus is more important than survival. The publicists they support diminish their role in creating pollution and extol ever increasing warfare, said to protect ourselves from a fictitious enemy nation, basically to steal. We kill as we go. We, the public dwell in an emotional hell in which everyone who is of the wrong color, language, religion… is the enemy. We join the army because there are no jobs and learn to kill the “enemy.” We scream with programmed joy and rage while destroying schools and hospitals and water purification plants and fields and grandparents and children and… We are disassociated from life, turn into rabid, fearful plunderers who expect a solitary death.

We need to see ourselves and all life including plants and animals as a family and turn away from corporate violence before their incited violence erases us all. We need to form ever larger groups, no one left out.  We are all of the same genotype: human.

Passionate but Lonely

Dear Citizens,

Am heart driven by the plan to set up green get-togethers in every community small and large in our world, eventually to speak together and become “one.” We will share how to preserve and save and recover from the ways we have been destroying our environment. This includes chopping down all the trees which create the oxygen we breathe as well as the sea plankton which do the same, our unceasing, careless and unnecessary use of fossil fuels, and its myriad of detrimental effects, eating all the fish we don’t throw back dead, releasing foul pollutants into land and sky and water, losing topsoil to the winds of drought and the necessity for everyone to have a royal acre to create a lawn rather than preserve our relationship to Mother Earth while growing only necessary foo, giving wildlife, our brothers and sisters, a place to live.

What I want us to do is bring together people all doing the “green thing” locally and nationally, to get together and show each other our work so that we can share and do and sell and teach. The few people, the very few absorbing the entire riches of the globe, are unimaginably short-sighted since a terrible death awaits them too. No air to breath. No water to drink. No food to eat since nothing grows in such pollution. How can these one-percenters rise above this situation with a mountain of cash?

Please write me at elangolomb@gmail.com to become part of this wonderful way to share our power and wisdom, to learn and share and teach. It will be a wonderful experience of a growing bunch of friends. I feel my heart warming and expanding awaiting to hear from you.

The War On Terror Is A Scam

Nothing is being fixed by military might. No bad foreign folk are missing now except the few that have been replaced by similar characters. We are not in “terrorist dominated” countries to make the world a safe and democratic place. This idea is a propaganda front for wars we hardly know are happening. Nor do we pay attention their enormous cost. A debtor nation due to war is walking in Rome’s footsteps.

The War on Terror, which started after 9/11, is ongoing and is now in about 68 nations. As a result, foreign cities are filled with crumbled buildings and fleeing refugees who have no place to go.  Trump attacks Muslims refugees made homeless by our bombs. John Pilger, world student, writer, and film-maker, writes that US actions have nothing to do with fighting terrorism but are instead part of an open-ended war for global dominance and control of valuable oil resources. The real danger facing humanity, he says, is the increasingly aggressive military action of American imperialism and the state terrorism orchestrated by it.

We wrongly focus on Trump’s imbecility, work to have him declared incompetent (which he likely is but not much more than those he has selected to work beside him). His tweet obsession keeps us distracted from what is going on. How do we stop the imperialistic movement from taking over our democracy, turning it into a medieval state of royalty and vassals? We cannot believe the nonsense spouted by our two-party system. They feed at a common trough. The movement largely funded by Koch brothers and other billionaires aims to privatize everything.

Most of what they say is wishful lies, including those to make us fearful of so-called terrorism bearing down on us so that we give up our civil rights. Those newly armed policemen with military grade machine guns and even tanks rolling on our town streets are home-grown terrorists who keep us fearful. The highest number of imprisoned people in the world gets rid of “surplus” unemployed people. Those who kill, maim, arrest us are not there to serve and protect.

We need a 3rd party. We need rank order voting without an electoral college which ignores the popular vote. We came here to be free of English taxation and foreign control. Now the disease has reawakened among the US royalists. We need to face the truth of how we, the vastly greater number of people, are being manipulated by a small minority in Congress. We need to come together in lasting protest to protect ourselves from the take-over crew.  We need to vote and for our vote to count.

Hubris

No better cage

For the snowball effect

than pride left unchecked

like a runaway train

Momentum only grows

and the destination

is long gone

and destruction is inevitable

just a matter of time

before the whole thing derails

for what was a force

of strength

is all but lost to chaos

all that’s left

is the crash

We are carried away by the hubris of the politicians mad with power and lying to suppress our fear. Know that you are afraid that the destruction our country pours around the world has now come home to us. It is us who have to put on the brakes. We cannot do it individually but only as a mighty “we,” an “us,” “noi” in Italian, as Pope Francis just said it on HuffPost. See the speech. It’s wonderful.

Allow Yourself to Feel

I saw a polar bear struggling on the ice, falling, pulling itself up, then falling again and again, finally giving up and staying down. This was not characteristic of the species, a majestic animal that thrives in that environment, but man had made the bear weak. I wept and wept, thinking of the dying species—not because of some sort of natural selection, but because of our chemical waste, our need to extract from the land and use the land on which to spew pollutants (it costs money to extract them), because of our lack of caring for life. I cried some more.

I told a dear friend about my tears and he said that polar bears are the only animals that will kill humans simply for pleasure. I laughed with him but part of me felt how humor, and even facts, keep us away from feeling tragedy. People do it with dry facts, with marijuana and alcohol and mood-altering drugs, both legal and otherwise. Boy, are we ever prepared! This is a sarcastic remark. It means the opposite.

Perhaps the fact person and the drug taker would be overwhelmed by feeling. Perhaps our culture has taught us to feel ashamed of weeping or shouting. Shhhhh. Keep it in. But we need to fully feel. Feeling our pain, our terror, our loss, keeps us present and within the realm of reality.

For example, we need to know what our bombing is doing to the rest of the world—children with burned faces, eleven-year-olds working in factories or in mines. What has so long been denied, ignored, subverted by dry facts or humor, is increasingly happening to us.

Turn your eyes away. But blindness does not protect you. And how could using devices to keep us from feeling make anything better? It is childish, magical thinking. The psychopathic politicians use your fear to control you. They promise you protection while they covertly doom us all. They are greedy users who are making sure that they will have much more than enough. The more we are taught to feel ashamed of showing feeling, the more likely we will fall into their pit of robbery, disease, and death.

Know that bad is coming. See it. Feel it. And be prepared. Figure out alternative ways to maintain yourself (and your family if they are with you). The ability to feel the pain all around us is a sign of strength.  Seeing reality for what it is keeps us from putting our faith in politicians who make false promises. It makes us self reliant. It helps us create extended families we call friends who will work collectively, share the pain, the joy and the fun of the job of creating change.
