Don’t Be a Child Again

The world is crumbling around us. Drought out west and Africa. Burning heat inland, oceans rising due to ice melt to bury islands. Desert over vast areas where we once grew what we eat. City dwellers with a supermarket on every corner do not want to believe that starvation is on the way. They have two days worth of food in the fridge.

People who are beginning to panic in the face of environmental catastrophe are electing tyrants whose words are said to lull them into complacency and surrender. They are becoming children with tough parents again.

Hurricanes due to hot air rising, destroy Puerto Rico, take roofs and plants and trees and water and stock. Insects are killed by our chemical sprays so that birds have nothing to eat and are disappearing. Polar bears are tossed off melting ice bergs to drown. Ocean warming stops water moving from cold beneath to hot on the top which keeps the Gulf Stream moving. If there is no more cold bottom and top hot, the gulf stream may stop moving to keep our land temperate. Will it be fire or ice that wipes us out if we keep living and polluting as we do?

Kids who do not turn away from reality are gathering together and making demands from governing bodies who make promises soon forgotten. Congressional old timers, largely on corporate payrolls, do not think of using a different source of energy.

Trump wants to chop down the trees in the National Tongass in Alaska, the US’s largest forest, to open all of it to digging for oil. Trump has already replaced most of the EPA with people who are forest choppers and oil well diggers so there is no restraint. Trump is all impulse and no planning. He fires anyone who might disagree.

Bolsonaro, the new president of Brazil, is burning down the Amazon, the lungs of the world, opening it up for mining and farming. Does he know the danger of what he is doing. He treats world wide upset and condemnation as western interference. He hints he can be bribed by westerners who so much want the forest left intact.

How about Duterte, president of the Philippines? He uses eliminating drug use as an excuse for large scale murder of the poor. He gets people to turn in to him non-drug users, ordinary farmers to keep their own lives from Duterte’s killing spree. I would say he likes to kill.

Youth is alarmed and straight forward about the danger. The world we are creating is the one they will have to live in. Not so many adults. They say it will not happen to us. They say science will save us and hide their heads in the sand. They regress to childhood state of mind looking for a protective parent.

For our survival, for decency and respect of mother earth. we need to come back to an adult state of mind and find people to band with to decide what we need to do. We need to join hands and stand against the fossil fuel industry. We need to not obey false leaders who take our money for personal profit and put nothing into survival.

Narcissism and Sociopathy The Big Sell Out

What is for sale in this capitalist society? Everything necessary to sustain life. Trees, air, water, animals. The corporate world wants access to whatever it can use. It wants the cheapest way to make their product, to dispose of waste, poisons into what we eat and drink and breathe. It is unconcerned that whales are full of plastic, that animals are dying because what they eat has been wiped out by chemicals or made lethal to them.. “45” offers freedom to his corporate cronies and in return he feels their love.

People who crave adulation go into show business. People who crave power go into politics. “45” by chance went from show business to presidency and now does them both. Because the Democrats thought the much disliked Hillary would walk off with the election, people voted for “45.”

Narcissists think It’s all about me. Their fragile ego needs endless inflation.
Sociopaths have no conscience for the damage that they have done. Their mind does not review their actions. If others blame them for inflicting injury, they call it “false news” or blame someone else for doing it.

Every day another horror is loosed upon the world. Two days ago, restraints on water pollution were removed by “45.” Don’t drink the water. It will kill you. Today, “45” wants to drill for gas and oil in the Arctic Refuge. Some will make a lot of money from this and will love “45” in return. Arctic dwellers and environmentalist beg “45” to spare the Wildlife Refuge. The local tribe, the Guich’in speak of death of the caribou which means the death of their people. We all speak about losing polar bears and foxes and birds and wolves and ….. ourselves.

“45”says that the losses will be small and unimportant. There is no conscience here. “45’s” sons like to kill vanishing species of animals in Africa. They are unhappy about not being allowed to bring back the body as a trophy. “45” may get that law erased.

We need to come alive. We cannot let a few millionaires and billionaires walk off with the spoils while destroying Mother Earth with extraction and with war. Bezos, the richest man in the world pays his workers too little to survive. We buy his goods. We can stop buying.

We need to start fixing or removing what we know is wrong. We need to learn more about the environment, about those people and practices that will destroy it. We cannot get the politicians to join us in our struggle regardless of what they say. They are owned by the corporations which paid the cost of their running for office. Corporate debt controls their actions. Politicians lie about their intentions. If they are on the corporate payroll, they speak only to win our vote. Then back to pleasing their corporate master. We needn’t elect those who want war everywhere and release bombs that destroy the ozone layer. They want money. We want life.

.We need leaders who are free of greed. Like Sweden’s Greta Thunberg, 16 year old whose life is devoted to getting us all to act. It is Greta’s example that got me to write this. It is who she who makes me consider what to do next. Please join us.

A Narcissist Steals and Kills

Narcissists see everything in terms of whether it makes them more powerful and important. The Old Testament was written by a narcissist who created god in his own image. It says that the Earth was given by god to man to take care of. Man interprets this gift as ownership. We own, use, take, destroy. We live in the power of the moment. There is no future in our thinking. Ownership separates the owner from what is owned. There is no family of man.

Everything is to be used up, ignored or, poisoned if it stands in our way or to earn from our poisoning capacity. Destroying things hurts us less if we remain in the now. Memory is lost. Christina has a photo of a solitary turtle swimming in a pond. I think, how lonely that little fellow is, how sad.

I remember when there were thousands of turtles in the water and frogs perched on the bank waiting to swallow flies. It was so much fun to run to the bank and jump in and to hear splashing all around me. There were so many insects pollinating every blossom, lightning bugs blinking on and off at dusk. There was a chorus of birds at dawn. Not an occasional solitary tweet.

The mystic businessman who received Earth from god puts earth inside his safe. His banker mentality makes earth a thing to possess, not a living spirit, a Gaia of which he/we all are a part. He creates corporations that sweep up and transform trees, water, plants, animals, coal, oil, man as worker into bucks. Everything has a price. There is no bird song in it. The Old Testament where man owns the earth is a hell hole of destruction.

We have to give up ownership of life. We need to join the family of animals and plants and life. We need a spiritual connection that does not inflate and separate us. Then we will not want to live in a Mar a Largo at any cost.

       And Then There Were None

This country when Columbus arrived called it terra vida (empty land) but that was a lie. The country had Indian nations long time settled here who regarded it as their home. But their occupation did not please those who came to freely take it, So there was killing. Lots of killing. Indians were killed in Massachusetts at a time we have labeled Thanksgiving, as if the Indians and the new settlers came together to share a feast of corn and turkeys rather than the Indians be murdered. Many were treaties signed to give reservation land to a few and the newcomers keep the rest. Many were sent on the Trail of Tears to foreign regions, many dying on the way. Those hard to live on far away areas are now being reclaimed by the national Kleptomaniacs for coal and oil and fracked gas and uranium. Treaties ceding these lands to Indians are broken and ignored.

Then came a new form of extraction by the new comers, those who worked for free. Slaves. It was said that slaves were insensitive folk, hardly caring if their children are sold, their marriages broken, female bodies raided for sex and to produce more young-ones to work the fields, clean the house, care for the master’s young, The child with such a nanny is eventually taught not to love that woman, to see her as inferior.

Those post Columbus travelers came to steal. Today, our economy remains framed on extraction. We dig into the earth for oil; we send poisonous gases into the earth to frack gas leaving behind poisoned water. We shave the tops of mountains for coal. Fracking causes  earth quakes. All our burning of gas and oil heats the air which dries out trees, root, leaf and limb and causes  enormous forest fires. We use the waterways as dumping places.  We fill the ocean with plastic which breaks down more and more but does not disappear. Animals eat plastic as if jelly fish.  Turtles are smothered, strangled. Every animal has ingested our poisonous waste. We destroy Milkweed which feeds the Monarch butterfly. We poison bees that pollinate our crops. Nothing gets away. We raid life to make a quick buck and get rid of EPA authorities that tell us we need to stop.

We treat the earth as a lifeless object. Greed is in the driver’s seat. We need all these life forms to survive and are finding it out the hard way. We need to stop it now.

Can we stop before we humans are mistake that ends?

Nation of Plantations

We, US citizens are on a downward life spiral as money for just about everything falls upward to the rich. Evidence of this is our diminishing life span, a shorter life span from one year to the next. People can’t afford insurance plans, decent food, the cost of drugs. Public schools are unfunded and falling apart. People are not being trained by pubic schools for jobs that don’t exist. College graduates have un-payable school loans with ever mounting interest have no right to declare bankruptcy. Graduates enter the indentured class and live in their parent’s basement, if there is one. Many fall from the middle class and live in their cars.
People are not having babies. Too expensive. Abortion rights are under fire and Social Security whose corporate name is given as “entitlement” rather than life-time monthly investment by workers. Social Security is also is in the rich man’s sights. Money for war Endless. Who benefits from what is taken?
You want to make a living? Fight for 15 dollar an hour pay. Only money makes money. Look at the recent tax break for the rich. Those who were told that their salaries would increase by a picayune amount will pay it back in taxes when the learn that their entitlements are no more. Fooled and fooled again.
Will the newly elected House liberals (mostly women) dig in their heels and fight for a return to decency? This country with its need to invade everywhere with desirable natural resources (currently Venezuela) has lost world respect. Will this new group of the elected not born into money, hold out for what is right and not fall prey to money offered by Wall Street bankers.

The other day Trump’s EPA representative, drawn from people who are against preservation, made an exception of the right to spray crops that attract bees with a toxic pesticide that will kill them. Can the environmental organizations which are always struggling for legal dough, be able to stop them? When the bees are wiped out, crops which need the seed spread by bees will die. They die. Food dies. We die.
Some mystics say that the devil is polishing us off. I prefer to think it short sighted greed. What are you and I going to do to support the interdependent life all all species including ourselves?

Play at Being You

I  have let so many thoughts and feelings go bye that I think I have lost the touch. How do you know when giving up is a good thing or actually on the way to doing a better thing?  It all depends on why.

I learned to give up half-way to some landing place from a family that trampled on my ideas and behavior as soon as they heard or observed them. I learned to avoid their hatred by giving a up first. I maintain my connection to these rejecting folk by doing to myself what they would do.

So getting on with things in my world of doing:  what is my next to do thing after writing this piece. I want to look into how to build a garden on my apartment building roof. Can the place afford it? How much will a large garden cost? How much will it save in electric power for the building to cool itself in summer, heat in winter? Imagine how good it will feel to sit beneath parasols in summer; the pleasure of gardening and selling the vegetables or eating them. Imagine the joy of creating something that lives.

What is first on your list? If you have no list, dive into your imagination and do whatever comes up. No quitting now. We are not caring about whether the idea is bad or good.  Do not be afraid of being a wild youth again or for the first time. Remember how Alice met the Red Queen after eating the magic mushrooms which gave or took away height. We all can grow or shrink that way.

It’s all a game. The game of life.No winners and no losers. Just the need to stretch in all directions. Do what calls you first. Then do what calls you next. Live.

The Need to Destroy

Do you ever ask why we humans are driven to destroy all that lives which includes ourselves?

Why did President Trump make it OK to kill baby wolves during their winter hibernation in a den with Mommy

Does killing make a bully strong?

Our government gets its impoverished citizens to harvest coal, gas, oil..

We use the energy of harvested carbon products and watch the world heat up. 12 years given to turn things around folks before no change is possible.

Our forests burn along with houses. Our cities flood. Our crops die in emerging deserts.

We do not blame ourselves for it.

Trump and his associates want to reduce the size of the national parks in order to dig for coal and gas and oil.

It’s all about money and power.

Perhaps those in charge have already died except for their banking minds which still walk and talk and imprison blacks for minor crimes and play golf,

Now that so many white millionaires are going to jail, they are working to limit jail time.

Why do we hate people who are different from us, race, sex, religion, sexual orientation?

Why do we choose death for the many rather than life for all?

Does the idea of scarcity destroy us?

Is ownership the religion of death?

Keep off my property before I shoot you.

The greater our fear the more we kill.

I kill you to deny that I will die.

Is violence our road to heaven?

Does God wear a gun?

Are we sane?
