They Want to Take It All

The rich aren’t Americans. They live in Richville, Anywhere. They travel in their nifty little planes or yachts or chauffeur driven sports cars to homes on mountain tops or shores. Servants cook and clean and baby sit for them. They barely notice the cost.
How did they get to be so wealthy and how do they maintain it? There is a history of theft. It started with slavery in the US after chasing and killing the natives. It went on from there and has never stopped. For example, they used near-to-slave Chinese labor to build a railroad across the US. Today, the US has wars all over the world. The US propaganda machine tells us that the US is trying to bring democracy to other lands by getting rid of their evil leaders. This do-good scheme is a pretense to get our tax money.
We are funding attacking foreign leaders and nations with tax money which drops to zero. Forget the lies folks. People in the war industry make a lot of money which pays for their extravagant lives. They produce and we pay for their war toys. They steal the natural resources from the attacked nations and now are coming to steal from you.
The Corona Virus set us up for mega theft. With businesses and schools closed everywhere, no money coming in to pay rent and mortgage, to pay workers during closure. Citizens are in increasingly victimized positions. Under the press of Covid 19, Congress gave the needy, that’s us, a Care package which we were happy to hear about. But no, forget your expectations. Its trillion plus went to mega corporations including holiday ships and air lines, next to nothing to small shop owners and schools and hospitals; and closed restaurants to pay their waiters, and have something to start again when the virus is less virulent or medically controlled.
What will we the common people have then? Some say we should be hopeful, But hope for change coming from the same governing people is uncalled for. They have already shown their hand. The government which gave our money to the wealthiest, has nothing left for us. Shops will remain closed until the rich ones buy what they like. Care money given to them covers the purchase price. Do the rich feel bad about their take-over? They are like horses wearing blinders to keep from getting frightened by approaching cars. The rich ones have different kinds of blinders. Their eyes are on the money.
We need to act as a group. all of us together, regardless of any kind of subdivision. Letters and calls have no power. We need to get out on the street. Cops will arrest some until they join us as another underclass. We need to start a third party or more. The Democrats and Republicans call each other names and then vote for the same betrayal We need to stop being pleased with crumbs as AOC said before she voted (hand raised no official count to be noted and announced) to give our money to the rich. Betsy DeVos wants to close all public schools and set up Christian schools and charters. We need to reject crumbs and to stop worshiping the rich. They are thieves whose hands are in our pockets. Do not fall for our so-called impoverished government. Money can be printed. Vote for 3rd party candidates (or a forth or fifth… who says two is the right number?) Choose those who agree with you about a need for public care. Vote for someone whose behavior supports their words. Nothing less . See what they did before they ran for office. Do not fall for lies again.

Let Them Eat Cake

Marie-Antoinette, when confronted by the starving French who asked for bread said “let them eat cake.”. She is with us today. The rich are taking more and more of our tax money, promising us cake some day if we just wait long enough.

Our private hospitals, many of them closed to make apartments for the rich, are set up to bring in the bucks. As a result, they do not buy equipment for unexpected disasters like the Corona virus. Masks and ventilators are too few and hospitals are understaffed. Too many virus patients with too few nurses lead to triaging care. Staff has to choose who will be treated and who will not and die from a lack of care. Nurses and doctors get sick as well because of missing protective equipment like having to wear the now infected mask for a week. The Corona virus fills the air and brings them down.

Factory workers are regarded as replaceable and unimportant. In a country run by the super rich, all labor is being dumped into that category. Meat packers are removed from Corona contaminated.factories which then are closed. The disease spreads in the factory because workers lack protective gear. When virus infected pork and beef and chicken processing plants are closed, animals are not slaughtered to be sold and eaten. President Trump saw the coming meat shortage and demanded workers go back to work, still unprotected. He said that those who stay home will not get unemployment. It is a choose your kind of death situation.

Farmers cannot sell produce to people who lack money. The government which claims to be insolvent forces farmers to chop up their vegetables growing in the field and then plow them under. Note that our government never runs out of money for planes and bombs and war. Why doesn’t it pay the farmers for what they grow and distribute it to the hungry folk whose line stretches for miles waiting for a bag of groceries? There is no profit in harvesting crops and feeding the impoverished. Capitalism is not attracted to performing acts of charity.

What of the homeless people living in subway stations? The local government kicks them out and forgets them. Those on the street are treated no better. People in charge of human disaster do not think of using empty hotel rooms. In a time of ever increasing difference between rich and poor, the poor become invisible.

We live in a capitalist society. Making a profit is it’s goal. Our so-called liberals in Congress make speeches about how sad they feel about the homeless, how upset they are about children whose public schools are overcrowded and understaffed. These same officials give huge amounts of our tax money to corporations and to the super rich. They give money to organizations that pay no taxes.

Having recently given trillions to them, our country will be unable to serve the rest of us for generations And still these elected official sell-outs speak to win our hearts. They have an ability to emote. Most congressional people can do this unless they play the opposite role and attack the needy as parasites (a la Mitch McConnell and Trump).

We vote for these people. We are like young children who are too frightened of abandonment and death to think that our parents do not care for us. There are almost no honest people in our governing body. Nancy Pelosi who is 100 million dollars rich, instead of offering Medicare to Covid sufferers, wants to give them Cobra which covers the cost of insurance while they are unemployed, for a fee of course. She rescues an industry which gives the insured little and takes a lot. Metaphorically speaking, Pelosi’s bread is buttered on the same side.

Do you believe that Republicans and Democrats are different? Look at how they vote. People like Bernie Sanders wail about what is being done to the poor and then vote to give tax money to the rich. Sanders is like a clown that distracts the audience from workers sweeping up horse shit at the circus.
Marie-Antoinette said “Let them eat cake.” when the impoverished French demanded bread. We are all waiting for that illusory cake instead of going on strike to demand a living wage, health care and retirement benefits. Let them know that we are hungry for real food in return for a life of real work.

Homelessness

Alice set herself up on a lively avenue next to a health food store. For a while, the local store workers brought her food and drink. She was out there through most extremely bad weather, rain and snow and serious cold. She had a rainproof tarp for her mattress and minor possessions and when needed for herself. She sat in a chair most of the day warning people with baby carriages and dogs not to step in a hole in the pavement. She created a happy vibe. She told me she could not get into “trans” housing because it only went up to age 25. What are the trans homeless to do at 26?

Then the store owners began to complain about her being there, particularly under their awning during the rain. They thought a homeless person perched on the edge of the sidewalk would bring their profits down. The store owner and his assistant took Alice around the corner and then down that block to “discuss” things. They said it was too fancy a street for a homeless squat. Alice realized that the discussion was a scam because of how far they walked and ran back to find her mattress gone. Luckily, the next day, she found another mattress thrown out on that adjacent street and rescued it.

The American unhoused and barely housed population is sinking into deeper trouble every day. About 40 percent live from paycheck to paycheck. Trouble with their car’s generator and they and their family are out on the street. Why is this happening in the richest country in the world, in our so-called democracy? The government no longer serves the poor. It does not use taxes to take care of people in a homeless state or teetering into poverty. The rich in power babble an up by your bootstrap myth created by those who largely inherited their wealth.

Democrats running for office rarely or never use the word poor let alone homeless when they are campaigning. It is thought that such mention will keep them from being elected. Mayor Peter said that he was the only candidate on stage in a Democratic debate who was not a millionaire or billionaire. What he did not say and did not apologize for is being on millionaires and billionaire payroll. If elected, he will do what his donors want. He is a candidate for sale. Candidates sell themselves because our elections are so expensive. There is no limit on what is spent by those who have or are given money.

We have a new class of people. those who pay for candidates to run and then obey them. They are called the “donor” class. Donors want to build houses for the very rich like themselves. They pay off neighborhood planners to put their high cost buildings in the best spots. Poor kids get asthma from breathing truck fumes and effluent gases from incinerator sites. Trucks and incineration plants do not occur in fancy neighborhoods.

In places like Denmark, called the world’s happiest country. they are erecting villages of small, single room houses so that formerly homeless residents live there and form a village. In the US, people on the street and in need of housing are arrested or sent away. We have scattered homeless people in tents or shelters made of plastic and rags.

What can we do about it? Call everyone who is running for office. Tell them to create inexpensive or free “living spaces” in old and new buildings. Tell them to build one room houses a la Denmark with our tax money. Make it illegal for candidates to accept money from the donors so that candidates then are in debt. A true democracy would give every candidate the same amount to spend on a brief campaign and allow no other money. Once candidates are supported this way, people will run for office from all classes and religions and colors and sexual orientations, people coming from everywhere to create a secure life for everyone.
