I feel as if a monster has its jaws around Mother Earth and is chewing. Yesterday, I learned that Trump was making it possible for corporations, factory farms, professional polluters of all sorts, earth murderers, to dump their poisonous trash into our rivers, lakes, oceans, into what we drink and where non-human animals live. Even the ocean is polluted.
Why, why does this self-centered, vain, applause-seeking man, President #45 seek the destruction of everything that sustains life? Many say that he is merely a petulant child, a tantrum ridden 3-year old, who does not know what he is doing. Is there some kind of relief for us to see him as infantile, oblivious to consequences of his actions which hurl us towards extinction?
I have been thinking of this peculiar kind of forgiveness and can no longer allow it to “white out” my submission. I think that #45 knows full well the harm his anti-control allowances permit. He knows that his rules or their lack permit every kind of rape of Mother Earth. He enjoys the power he has over life.
I think that feeling the world disintegrate beneath his feet stimulates him to grab ever more of what he can. He is riding the train of destruction, cowboy hat waving in the air. Even his uncontrollable sexuality has women forced into submission. About beautiful women, #45 says, “I touch their pussy” and they give in. It is all about rape and power. A powerful way to suppress a woman’s freedom is through rape. The woman is “taken.” It has nothing to do with love regardless of what the rapist says.
We are dependent on Mother Earth for life. A vanquished Mother Earth lets us fall into non-existence. Trump @ co. jails helpless immigrants who are corralled at our border. He separates child from parent which is a form of slow death for them both. We as onlookers are horrified and then forget. We hide our heads in the sand and do the ostrich act. Hannah Arendt spoke of Germans going about their business in sight of concentration camps with smoke billowing from flesh eating fires, “She called it “the banality of evil.”
We, citizens accepting helplessness, vote for congressmen who are owned by polluting corporations and will do nothing to sustain life. We are in an emergency. Our lives are on the line. We have-to be in the streets about it. We cannot allow dumping into our creeks and rivers. We cannot allow pollution in our food and in our sky. We cannot allow children corralled at the border to be put in cages . We cannot allow the extraction of coal, oil, gas, create endlessly polluting nuclear reactors to make big money, so that those dancing on the deck of the Titanic have a very good band. We cannot give away our lives.
