The Bankrupt Post Office Scam

Just got a request in the mail from the huge, central Post Office across the park from me in Brooklyn Heights. They are begging for a few hundred dollars to add to what they have already received, to keep the post office from being closed… today!

Closed? What? At all times this post office is crowded with people seeking every kind of postal service. How broke can it be? Post offices are a public service not there to make a profit.

Simple. The greedy government crowd gets financial kick backs from those people/corporations that will assume ownership and make a ton of money from selling stamps and delivering mail, made a recent rule that the post office has to have their retirement funds available for every new employee.

There is not another corporation in this country that acts this way. It is a trap to create bankruptcy and a take over. There is no way for the post office to have that money up front. Private postal services will not be built in out-of-the way places where the population is poor and cannot pay for it, like they can’t pay for medical bills and schools and school supplies. These people will be deprived of a mail service.

Why do the ultra rich want to take over the post office business? Money is a kind of addiction. There is no such thing as having enough of it when you’ve already got a lot. When Trump gave the mega rich billions in tax relief, do you believe for one second that there was any kind of trickle down? The receivers of this money worship a flag featuring dollar signs over the words “give me more.”

Too many people give in to increasing impoverishment. They feel broken and powerless. Having no mail service cuts them off from everyone out there. We need to stand up for the post office. We need take back some of the donated funds from those who need it least. Using money for public services including the post office is what a democratic government does.
